Playscheme is a stimulating play environment, offering valuable respite for families during the school holidays. It offers the young people we support the opportunity to try new activities, build friendships, relax, and most importantly have fun.

Our playschemes are run in accordance with the Care Inspectorate and Scottish Social Services Council. You can find links to our most up to date Care Inspectorate reports here.

About our Playscheme
Our support workers provide quality play opportunities for the children who attend our playscheme. Our trained and experienced support workers encourage the children and young people to engage in play by offering a range of materials and ideas to inspire and challenge them. We provide visits to attractions like museums, farms and the ever popular Dynamic Earth, as well as leisure activities such as swimming, trampolining, tubing and soft play. We aim to ensure that each day at playscheme is different and to provide a variety of games and activities so that everyone who attends has as much fun as possible.

Depending on the care needs of each child and young person, staff work with the attendees on either a 1:1, 2:1 or 1:2 care ratio. At our playscheme, each child is supported at their own pace to develop emotionally and socially. Children and young people will play outside and explore the local community in all weather, so we encourage weather appropriate clothes and suitable footwear during cold and wet days, and hats and sun cream on hot days.

What other parents say
Thank you so much for running an Easter playscheme…there is nothing locally for him to attend. The last couple of days he has attended have been amazing, he keeps saying “what a great club this is I am really enjoying it I hope there is more mummy

You have made a wee boy extremely happy. All the staff have been brilliant and have done a fantastic job. My son relaxed into it straight away with no worries and that is thanks to them. A huge thank you from us.

Where is the playscheme run?
Summer 2017’s playscheme in Edinburgh was the last as part of our contract with the INC Consortium. The City of Edinburgh Council’s new provider is Fabb Scotland, who will be running the revised Holiday Activity Programme in Edinburgh from October 2017 onwards.
